A native of Naugatuck, CT and graduate of Naugatuck High School, Laura is involved in a variety of nutrition-related projects while pursuing her doctorate, including field studies examining gastro-intestinal distress after triathlons, triathlete heart rate studies, and the metabolic effects of diet on athletes running a 100-mile ultra-endurance race through mountainous terrain. She is a guest lecturer to students of exercise science, athletic training and coaching; guest reviewer on nutrition-related topics for the Journal of Strength & Conditioning; provides nutrition counsel to athletes; and helps implement new training table menus for high school and college football programs.
